Liberton Bank House, Cameron Toll, Edinburgh

Liberton Bank House is a Category C(s) listed 18th century cottage located to in south Edinburgh. It is listed due to its links to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Mary Burton, two important characters in Edinburgh's history who both resided there.

The building attracted widespread community outrage and media attention in the late 1990's when plans to demolish it and build a McDonalds restaurant were published by the then owner. This proposal was successfully challenged the community and fans of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who recognised its significance as the only one of Doyle's boyhood homes to survive.

The project started on site in October 2006 and was completed in the summer of 2007. The school has now taken up occupation and was officially opened on 13 November 2007 by Gavin Hastings.
