Leith Theatre
The "B" Listed Leith Theatre and Public Library dates from 1929-32 (by Bradshaw. Gass and Hope). The property is owned by the City of Edinburgh Council. As a result of the Feasiblility Study which was conducted in May 2006 the City of Edinburgh Council has agreed to suspend the disposal of Leith Theatre to allow for a follow up Study to be conducted. Leith Theatre Trust, City of Edinburgh Council and Cockburn Conservation Trust are currently working together to explore options for funding sources in order to conduct this study, in order to save this building, which has lain empty for some 25 years. It is expected that a sum in the region of £5 Million will be required in order to restore this building.
If you wish to make a contribution towards Saving Leith Theatre please send a cheque (made payable to "Cockburn Conservation Trust"). If you are a UK Taxpayer please download and complete the Gift Aid Form to accompany your donation - and mail both to:

We held a Public Consultation Event on 22nd April 2009 between 3pm and 5pm and then between 6pm and 8pm - where many people came along - had a tour of the old theatre, received a presentation on some ideas for the future and then participated in a workshop to put forward their own ideas.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to come along and attend the event - below are some photos taken at the Consultation.

On 30th of April 2009 we entered Leith Junction into the Arts Fund Prize for Edinburgh Stage One Application. Unfortunately, our bid was unsuccessful and we have not made the shortlist. Hence we need your help to move the project forwards. Below are some pages from our Application to give you a fuller picture of the project.
