22 Sandgate and 2 Cathcart Street, Ayr

These two buildings form an important 17th century house on a prominent corner in Ayr and are associated with Lady Cathcart. They had degenerated into a dangerous condition and a demolition contract was already in progress by the time SHBT became involved.

With help and support from the Kyle and Carrick Civic Society, SHBT was permitted to inspect them and come forward with a restoration package with the assistance of Simpson & Brown, Architects. The 'B' listed building was conveyed to the Trust, restored and now provides three flats and one shop unit.
