Auchinleck House, Ayrshire (1986-2001)

The house, built between 1755 and 1762 for Lord Auchinleck, is best known as the house of his son, Alexander Boswell. The 'A' listed property was in a severe state of decay when it was purchased in 1986 by SHBT. The Trust continued with the major structural restoration of the building until it was finally acquired by the Landmark Trust, which completed the internal decoration and now operates it as a holiday let.
