Drumlanrig Tower, Towerdykeside and 2-6 High Street, Hawick, Scottish Borders
The history of the Tower can be traced back to the 16th century when it operated as a fortified tower-house and stronghold of the Douglas Family.
Its subsequent development as an 18th century genteel residence and 19th century commercial inn brought changes to the building, reflected in its facade. It closed its doors in the 1970's, re-opening in 1995 along with Towerdykeside and 2-6 High Street, thanks to the extensive restoration work of SHBT.
The restored buildings feature a tourist attraction and information centre, private flats and workshop space.
