Laws Close Garden in Kirkcaldy's High Street (2005-2007)

The development of Laws Close Garden is part of the Kirkcaldy Riggs Gardens Project, led by Fife Historic Buildings Trust (which includes Fish Wynd, Oliphant's Garden and Merchant's Wynd).
In 2005 John Richards Landscape Architects were appointed by SHBT to work in collaboration with artists Tracy Mackenzie and Edwin Jannsen to develop the Garden.
As of 6th April 2007, Law's Close Garden on Kirkcaldy's High Street is open to the public. Located to the rear of SHBT's property at 339-343 High Street, the garden can be accessed via the Tourist Information Centre within the building at 339 High Street during their office hours. The garden will be open to the public from 10am to 4pm 7 days a week during the summer tourist season, and 6 days a week during daylight hours in the winter season. Information about the building and the garden will be available for visitors to read as they enjoy the garden.

The garden is one of three garden projects which have been carried out under the Kirkcaldy Riggs Townscape Heritage Initiative. With funding from the Scottish Arts Council, East of Scotland European Partnership, Fife Council, Fife Environment Trust, Heritage Lottery Fund and Scottish Enterprise Fife, the artists Tracy Mackenna and Edwin Janssen created a concept based on the garden's historical use for fruit and vegetable production, incorporating fruit trees and beds for growing herbs, fruit and vegetables. There are also timber benches and a table for visitors to enjoy a picnic, while an open-air performance space is available for local groups to host small-scale events, such as storytelling, recitals, and even weddings and civil partnerships.
